THE STORY OF BEAUTY
The Peony is a flower whose many layers of petals unfold into a magnificent and abundant bloom.
From a small bud, its petals gradually open, eventually transforming into a remarkably large and dignified flower.
Its abundant beauty has captivated people throughout the East for centuries.
In China, the Peony has been called the “King of Flowers” and cherished as a symbol of prosperity and dignity, appearing in imperial courts and gardens, as well as in paintings and decorative arts.
Later, the Peony was introduced to Japan, where it became deeply loved within Japanese aesthetics.
In paintings and decorative arts, its beauty was expressed through the thoughtful use of space, composition, and harmony of color.
Sometimes a single peony was placed as the central subject; at other times, it was combined with birds, plants, vessels, and other elements to enhance the flower’s richness and dignity.
This reflects a distinctly Japanese sensibility — the ability to create even greater beauty through the way a flower is placed within a space.
From the 18th century onward, Chinese Peonies were introduced to Europe, where they captivated Western horticulturists.
Over time, selective breeding gave rise to an extraordinary variety of colors and flower forms, and the Peony eventually became cherished around the world.
In both East and West, it was the Peony’s abundant beauty — opening fully and without restraint — that continued to captivate people.
Layer upon layer, its petals unfold, never hiding themselves, until the flower opens into its full magnificence.
The Peony quietly reveals the richness of simply having the courage to exist fully and unapologetically.

BEAUTY OF HAPPINESS
The Peony gently teaches us to embrace the abundance that already exists within us.
Sometimes, when we compare ourselves with others, we may begin to feel as though we are not enough.
Yet the Peony slowly and generously unfolds each petal that has been hidden within its bud.
Not to appear greater than anyone else, nor to seek anyone’s approval, but simply to let everything it holds within bloom fully.
When we accept ourselves and say, “I am enough just as I am,” the abundance within us may begin to unfold more freely.
The Peony quietly teaches us that loving ourselves as we are, and having the courage to exist fully and unapologetically, can also be a beautiful way of living.
